CATCHUP - 27/11/20

Oh dear... I see it's well over two weeks since my last entry... Well, I suppose I've been frightfully, frightfully busy doing huge amounts of Notalot, which is always very tiring.
In reality, it was something of a dissappointment that the mannequin I'd thrown myself into with such vigour turned out to be somewhat more svelte than he should have been. My general reaction to such things is to put them aside for a while; trouble being, that I do not want to get started on the Banyan Project till I have a viable mannequin.
Time has not in fact been standing still, in that I have made myself two pairs of 'experimental' boxer shorts - very loosely based on C18th braies - with another one in the pipeline. Then I have been making myself several hats, starting with a calico mock-up out of which has come a sort of skullcap and a couple of pork pies, plus a pork pie for a good friend.
In an ideal world, it would be nice to have a 'proper' hat-makers adjustable form - such as I used to have years ago, but that was in a different life and anyway they are prohibitively expensive. So, I now have a very nicely-made 'thing' that can stretch the bottom part - and is invaluable when making something to a particular size.
I have so much scrap fabric that I'm sure more will appear as the winter progresses!!
I have to say that a huge amount of my time is taken up with crochet - so completely addictive! One of the five projects I have 'on the go' is this rather strange confection that would make a good head-dress for Medusa - not that it's intended to be worn as a titfer... ha ha

As of yesterday, my mannequin has finally been 'fattened-up' and that will be the subject of my next blog...

Until next time.......
